Our School Day

08:30 School doors open
08:40 School commences
08:40 to 12:30 Morning sessions
12:30 to 13:15 Lunchtime
13:15 to 15:00 Afternoon sessions
15:10 End of school

All class teachers will greet your child at the start of the school day at the classroom door. Outer doors will close at 08:40, when the first morning session will promptly start. Children need to be in their classroom, seated at their desk, ready to commence learning before the doors are closed.
Whilst parents/carers can talk to the class teachers on the door, we will not be inviting adults into school without a prior appointment.
If your child comes to school on their own, we ask that they do not arrive before 08:30, and until the doors open, all children remain the responsibility of parents/carers.
If your child arrives after 08:40, they will need to come via the front office, where they will receive a late mark for their registration. If they arrive after 09:10, your child will receive an unauthorised absence mark for their morning session, which will impact their attendance.

We have two morning breaks - one for LKS2 (years 3 and 4) 09:55 - 10:15 and a UKS2 (years 5 and 6) 10:20 - 10:40

Classes do go out in an afternoon for active time.

Our school day is in line with DfE expectations for 32.5 hours.

Uniform
Both the staff and Governors are in support of a uniformed dress code guided by the principles given below. We believe this helps create an identity for the school. It may also stop children competing in the “fashion stakes”, as well as proving cheaper to parents in the long run.
Everyday Uniform:
-
Blue Sweatshirts/cardigans
-
Navy, grey or black trousers, skirt or pinafore dress
-
Navy, grey or black smart shorts in summer
-
Pale blue, royal blue or white polo shirts
-
Sensible, black shoes or black trainers
-
Blue striped or checked gingham dresses from the summer term

In the interests of creating a safe and calm school environment, we do not allow the following things:
-
Jewellery (except one pair of small stud earrings or a wristwatch)
-
Denim jeans, denim shorts or tracksuit bottoms
-
Smart watches
-
Extreme hair cuts or styles
-
Fake tattoos or transfers
-
Acrylic and false nails

Physical Education:

Indoor:
-
A white or black crew-neck T-shirt (or a school-branded one)
-
Black shorts
-
Trainers or plimsolls

Outdoor:
-
Black tracksuit or jogging bottoms
-
A white or black crew-neck T-shirt
-
Black zip-up jacket, hoody or sweatshirt
-
Trainers or plimsolls

In addition, students are not permitted to wear football shirts during PE lessons. This rule ensures uniformity and reduces distractions among students.
Proper footwear and appropriate clothing are essential for safety and comfort during physical activities. The school also requests that all PE clothing be clearly labelled with the child's name, and that jewellery is not worn during PE for safety reasons.
Due to Health & Safety reasons, if your child is unable to remove their earrings, then can you please provide plasters or tape so that they may cover their own ears (please note that this is not the responsibility of school staff). We recommend that if you wish your child to have their ears pierced, then please do so at the beginning of the summer holidays to enable them to heal prior to starting school in September.

School Lunches
We operate a 3 banded dinner system.
The cost of school meals is £16.00 per week (£3.20 per day) and these must be paid for in advance (Monday of the week that the meals are being taken) you may pay for more than one week at a time if you so wish.
This means that every day the children who have decided to have a school meal for that week will have a choice from 3 options, 2 hot and 1 chilled.
The chilled choice is the sandwich option.
Mrs Lightfoot and her team cook an amazing meal each and every day. If you have any special dietary requirements, please do not hesitate to ask.
