Bramley Sunnyside Junior School has achieved a successful Platinum reapplication for 2025/26, reflecting an exceptional and deeply embedded PESSPA offer that continues to set a standard across the borough. Sport and physical activity are firmly woven into the culture of the school, extending beyond curriculum time into a comprehensive extra‑curricular programme and a rich range of enrichment opportunities delivered through both the Rotherham School Games programme and their MAT inter‑school offer.

BSJS make highly effective use of the event categories to ensure that every pupil can access sport at a level appropriate to them. Their commitment to inclusive practice is evident through consistent engagement in SEND pathways, targeted girls’ interventions, and a sustained dedication to the competitive pathways. Sunnyside truly exemplify an approach where opportunity for all is not just an ambition, but a lived reality.

A particular strength this year has been the leadership and continuity provided by Miss Atkinson, who has ensured a smooth and highly effective transition into the PE lead role during maternity cover. This reflects the school’s wider commitment to maintaining high standards and safeguarding the quality of its PESSPA provision.

A standout highlight of the year was BSJS’s showcase at the PE Conference, where they presented their outstanding lunchtime provision. This innovative and inclusive model - offering a wide range of meaningful, active opportunities for all pupils - was recognised further through a YST Award nomination. The school’s lunchtime environment is a genuine strength, providing structured, engaging and varied activities that support physical, social and emotional development.
